The greater stars don't want me to write this entry (this is the third time I try to).
anyway

After weeks of torture (studying), yesterday I finally gave my Sociology exam, wahoo!!

The exam required us to read two (only the first one if you did the group project, which I did not) textbooks:

  • Sociologia della comunicazione nell'era digitale by Luciano Paccagnella;
    this one was a bit of a pain in the ass to read, the author tried to be a bit too friendly with the reader which is not something I enjoy in what is supposed to be a serious manual. Lucky enough the copy I bought used has every important information already highlighted by the previous owner (thank you :D), which made the reading much easier.
    Something I enjoyed of it were the small sections featuring things they mentioned in the main text (e.g. Italian gestures, the Pioneer Program, [...], and small schemes) and suggested reads; more textbooks should feature these!!

  • La pubblicitĂ  nell'era digitale by Paola Panarese and Chiara De Luca;
    114 pages of well-written information alongside a 90-words glossary for terms one might not know (very useful!) and 25 pages of bibliography (kind of excessive, don't you think), all in a 154 pages A5-sized book.
    The read was much more enjoyable, perhaps slightly complicated in some chapters (they really tried to squeeze in every drop of information they could...), although they did try to shove in AI in everything...
    For some reason they added a citation in English, despite all the previous ones having been translated, not a fan of that since they didn't even explain what it meant.
    I had fun writing down small comments on what I enjoyed and what made my blood boil (aka most AI mentions).

The professor themself was the kind that you just knew from the first sight that they would be a jerk (stronz*) about some things, like respecting the time schedule (poor guy came in 2 minutes late to the exam and they didn't even let him in), and they didn't even share the slides used in lessons after saying that they would do it after finishing the curriculum, what the hell?!

In these previous weeks I, presumably, was so nervous/anxious about it that all the dreams I had were so realistic (as in fell like I was doing things awake) that they disoriented me. Sometimes I felt like "wait, didn't I do [thing] already?", which worsened my will to stay in Uni.

Anyway, next week (2nd of March) I will start the next second quarter, and the courses offered will be much more [i can't come up with the word i want to use rn, will edit this later](affine) with what I'm actually there for!

Hoping to befriend a couple more people and score at least one extroverted peer,
read ya!!
